MARQUETTE -- The Peter White Public Library is continuing its efforts to educate the public on wolves in upper Michigan. Rad Watkins of the Timber Wolf Alliance gave a lecture this evening about how wolves have made a comeback in upper Michigan and Wisconsin.

He says that wolves had protection from hunting for about 15 years and have since returned to the area naturally.

"We can have wolves on this landscape and can live with them, we can even sustain a hunting season as long as the pressure is not too great, so wolves are probably back to stay," said Rad Watkins of the Timber Wolf Alliance. "Wolves have been in North America for about 10,000 years, they were gone for about 15 years and now they're back."

The Peter White Public Library also has a traveling exhibit called Wolves and Wild Lands of the 21st Century. That exhibit will be up until the end of September.
