ESCANABA TOWNSHIP -- Escanaba Township's Supervisor, Kevin Dubord, has resigned.
According to a township official, Dubord announced at Monday night's township meeting that he was stepping down immediately for health reasons. Dubord has been the township supervisor for the last 28 years. A new supervisor will be appointed at a special meeting being scheduled for next week.
One of the reasons for Dubord's resignation is the township's long legal battle with the Barron family over an ice racing track in the township. At Monday night's meeting the township fired their attorney, John Bergman, who's been involved in the case.
The township board then hired the firm of Butch, Quinn, Rosemurgy, Jardis, Burkhart, Lewandowski and Miller. The legal case is still active. The township is against the ice racing track, saying the Barron's never applied for a site plan.
The Barron's say they were told multiple times they did not need one.
