MARQUETTE -- As the first day of classes kicked off at NMU, students were welcomed with Fall Fest.

Booths were lined up at the university's academic mall giving students the opportunity to meet representatives from Marquette businesses, volunteer agencies, and student organizations.

Students were given the opportunity to find out about university clubs, sign up for events, and meet new people.  The fest was conveniently located so students could stop by in between classes.

"I think it gives freshmen a great opportunity to come and learn the clubs and organizations, possibly meet some new friends, that way they're not sitting in their dorm rooms all the time playing video games," said NMU student, Chris Durley.

To draw more students in, the Center for Student Enrichment provided free ice cream for the underclassmen.
