MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Rotary Club kicked off the 29th annual Seafood Fest with a gala celebration Thursday night. The event brought out Marquette's business and community leaders to wine and dine. A silent auction featured everything from kitchen appliances to Green Bay Packers tickets. Rotary officials are excited about this year's Seafood Fest activities.

"It's great to be able to give back. We have a lot of great Rotarians that work really hard to pull this whole weekend together so that we can raise money to help those people that are less fortunate than us," said Christine Pesola of the Marquette Rotary Club.

Seafood Fest begins Friday with a performance by Project Pink, a Pink Floyd tribute band. That show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door.

Saturday, the traditional Seafood Fest begins at 11 a.m. and continues through 10 p.m. This is open to the public and free to attend. Over the years, the Seafood Fest has raised more than half a million dollars for community needs.
