EAGLE RIVER -- The Calumet man accused of a fatal drunk driving crash was in Keweenaw County Court Thursday.

David Simons is charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Simons allegedly lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree, killing his 53-year-old passenger, Jeffery Brusso.

During the preliminary hearing, multiple witnesses took the stand, including two medical examiners. One of the examiners said Brusso suffered from blunt force trauma and a ruptured heart which was caused by the accident.

Simons case was bound over to circuit court.
