ISHPEMING -- Nearly 200 runners, young and old, ran for a cause Saturday morning in Ishpeming.

The first annual Running for a Reason took place at Cross Fit 906 with a 5K run for adults and a 1K run for the youth. The organizer says the event is meant to benefit those in financial hardships. She, herself, has experienced the help first-hand.

"We got a lot of support from the community, from friends and family, and people we didn't even know, so this is one way that I'm trying to help give back to the community at the same time," said Carrie Harvala, an organizer.

Runners completed the 5K run on the Heritage Trail.
