BIG BAY -- Campers from across Michigan are taking part in Camp Yes I Can at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay.
The camp is for boys and girls age 7 to 17 who have lost limbs. Forty campers and volunteer staff members are participating this year, most are amputees.
The campers join in many sports and activities, like fishing, hiking, and basketball.
On Wednesday, the camp invited a member of the Stand Up amputee basketball team to coach them.
The purpose of the camp is to help the campers become more comfortable with their prosthetic limbs, gain confidence, and interact with other amputees.
"Many of them have returned year after year because of the experiences that they gained and the confidence that they gained. For me, it's just giving them an opportunity to know that they can be who they want to be in life," said Camp Director, Lynn Vanwelsenaers.
Camp Yes I Can is a seven day camp and it ends Saturday.
