NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- Emergency vehicles closed US-41's eastbound lane from Negaunee Township to Marquette at 9:08 a.m. on Friday morning after a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a semi truck.

Police said that a semi truck was turning left on US-41 when a motorcycle slammed into the rear end of the semi. The 46-year-old motorcyclist from Negaunee Township was killed in the crash, according to officials. Witnesses said that the semi-truck was slowing to make a left turn when the crash happened, according to the Marquette County Sheriff's Department.

Officials closed US-41 for two hours from Negaunee Township to Marquette in the eastbound lane. Traffic was rerouted from M-35 to Marquette County Road 492 to Marquette.

Police are still investigating the crash, but said that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
