CHESTER TOWNSHIP (AP) -- Authorities say a group of teens trying to light a bonfire at a party in West Michigan using gasoline sparked an explosion, injuring seven of them.

The Holland Sentinel and MLive.com report the explosion happened Saturday evening in Ottawa County's Chester Township, about 15 miles northwest of Grand Rapids.

Injuries included burns and ranged from serious to minor. The injured were 16 and 17 years old.

One was airlifted to a hospital and two were taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The sheriff's department says the teens doused a pile of brush with gasoline, made a gasoline trail away from the pile and lit the

trail on fire. The pile then exploded. The explosion was under investigation.
