Sunday's forecast is a pleasant for most of the day. Highs will be just a little above average in the low 80s, cooler near the lakes. Winds will be relatively light out of the south and southwest. Skies should be partly to mostly sunny, but more clouds will be moving in slowly from the west later on.
As a weak disturbance of lower pressure enters the area later Sunday night it will bring more clouds from the west and some rain and thundershowers, mainly late and overnight. Greatest chances for rain are after midnight west. Lows should be in the low to mid 60s and wind speeds may pick up a little.
Rain and thunderstorms will dominate Monday's forecast. As a stronger low pressure system enters the upper Great Lakes early on Monday, expect scattered rain and storms, but the most intense storms will be along the system's occluded front, which acts very similarly to a cold front. The heaviest rainfall will likely be in the central UP. Temperatures should be pleasant in the upper 70s to low 80s, but dew points will be high in the 60s. Winds could be breezy and will shifting out of the west.
As the front moves eastward throughout the evening, skies and conditions should clear up behind it as high pressure moves in overnight. Lows will be mild in the 60s and winds will shift out of the north and northwest.
Tuesday should see lingering showers and clouds east in the morning, but conditions are looking to be mostly sunny and a little less warm. Expect more storms on Wednesday and perhaps more after that later in the week, but right now that is still fairly uncertain.
I don't know about you, but late last night I saw five meteors in about 20 minutes. I plan to look again tonight and see more. It's part of the Delta Aquarid Meteor Shower that is peaking this weekend. I also heard one report of an aurora visible over Lake Superior. Aurora chances are looking greater Sunday night and Monday night. I'll mention that on the Weekend Late News tonight too. Otherwise, this website has news on both.
For more, join me on Facebook. I changed my cover photo to some atmospheric gravity waves I saw over Negaunee not too long ago. I love seeing gravity waves!
