MARQUETTE -- The 11th annual Blueberry Festival filled downtown Marquette Friday. Live music, vendors and, of course, blueberries took over Washington and Front Streets.

The festival started at 10 a.m. and quickly packed the downtown area. Vendors say this was their chance to show off what makes Marquette so special.

"Downtown is where you want to be. Downtown is where you go for something different, where you can go and actually talk to people who open a store because they're passionate about something," said Frank Pergande, the owner of Thoom Games and Toys. "They have more knowledge than just someone standing behind the counter at a department store; they are people who kind of made this their life."

Many businesses offered unique events like dance festivals and pie eating contests. The festival wrapped up at 7 p.m. Friday night.
