MARQUETTE -- If you walked through the Marquette Commons this weekend, you may have noticed a couple of new things...the addition of colorful murals.

They're called the Marquette Matters murals and are part of a Marquette Arts and Culture Committee project.  The goal of the project was to get the local youth involved in creating a public art display.

More than one hundred kids from all ages helped paint.

"It allowed us to further our relationship with youth within the arts.  Some of them had never painted before, and to see the joy on their faces, to be involved in the project was just wonderful.  We had really positive feedback, and they were all happy to be involved," said Program Coordinator, Lea Dziesinski.

The Marquette Arts and Culture Committee will host an unveiling project on Tuesday. The murals will remain on display until November.
