MARQUETTE -- The suspect arrested after a hit-and-run claimed the life of 42-year-old Karin LaChapelle on July 4 has been arraigned in court.

Luke Huotari was arraigned in court on Monday morning on two charges of failure to yield at the scene of an accident, causing bodily harm or death. These crimes are felonies, worth five years in prison each.

Police arrested the 30-year-old Gwinn man after a tip, inspection of his vehicle, and interviews were conducted.

Also injured in the hit-and-run was 39-year-old Bryan LaChapelle. He was hospitalized at Marquette General Hospital, but has been treated and released.

Huotari will be back in court on July 23 for his preliminary hearing. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
