MARQUETTE -- The L'Anse man who severely beat another man outside a Baraga bar in January received his sentence on Thursday.

Anthony Leonard Eagle, Jr., 28, was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for assault resulting in serious bodily injury.  Eagle plead guilty to the charges on March 28.

The victim of the beating was found outside the Cue Master Bar in Baraga.  He was unconscious and suffering extreme hypothermia, according to officials.  Police stated that the traumatic brain injuries suffered by the victim was a result of being struck twice by Eagle during an altercation.

Doctors at Marquette General Hospital were able to revive the victim by using a unique treatment that reheats the blood.

As part of Eagle's prison sentence, he will also be on three years of supervised release.  Eagle will also be required to pay a $100 special assessment fee, and restitution, currently calculated at $122,373.
