GWINN -- Two cases of alleged embezzlement are being investigated in Forsyth Township.

The first case involves Christina Kay Denessen, 43, of Gwinn. She's a former secretary-office employee in the Forsyth Township office. Denessen is charged with a felony, embezzlement between $1,000 and $20,000. According to the Michigan State Police investigation, the embezzlement happened between July and December of last year.

There's no word on the exact amount of money allegedly taken. Denessen is free on bond. She stood mute in court, and a not guilty plea was entered on her behalf. Her next court appearance is June 27. A second embezzlement case involves an individual that had worked temporarily in the Forsyth Township assessor's office. That investigation is in the early stages.
