MUNISING -- Munising's Vera Dott is the latest to join the century club.  She celebrated her 100th birthday Wednesday with friends and family at Eden Lutheran Church.

She's been a Munising resident her whole life.  Vera first worked at the Grand Island Hotel which no longer exists.  During World War II, Dott worked in the paper mill.  After her time at the mill, she married and raised her two sons.

"I think it's quite an honor, especially some of the things that they didn't have in those days that we have now, like medical care. You adapted, you had to. It wasn't easy," said Vera's son, John Dott.

Dott is still in excellent health and has lived in the same house in Munising for 72 years.  Dott credits being able to take it all in stride and her toughness for being able to celebrate this milestone.
