NEWBERRY (AP) -- The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is inviting property owners affected by the 33-square-mile Duck Lake wildfire in the Upper Peninsula to a public meeting June 26.

The DNR says the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at Luce County's McMillan Township Hall, near Newberry.

The department says the meeting will focus on assistance programs available to landowners for restoring their properties. It says topics will include financial assistance for removing burned trees, replanting property with trees and fixing damaged roads and driveways.

A lightning strike started the fire last month. It destroyed 136 structures, including homes, outbuildings and campers and temporarily closed Tahquamenon Falls State Park.

No injuries were reported.
