MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Conservation District is holding its native plant sale Tuesday. The sale will be from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Conservation District office on Commerce Drive in Marquette.
The sale is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and the money raised will fund the district's projects throughout the year.
"We encourage everyone to grow native plants. We have many commercial entities around town that have native plant gardens," said Renne Leow of the Marquette Conservation District. "We have great partnerships with the commercial providers as well as people who want to install a rain garden or just add some beauty in their backyard."
The plants are native and do not require fertilizer and rarely need watering. The plants are provided through a partnership with the Michigan Department of Corrections.
