Veterans at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette will soon start seeing some changes for the better

MARQUETTE -- Veterans at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette will soon start seeing some changes for the better.

Senator Tom Casperson and others joined in Saturday's announcement at the center. It's all thanks to a little more than $500,000 appropriation included in their budget for next year. The money will go to renovate the enclosed courtyard, restore the entrance of the building, and replace the oldest roof on the south wing of the building.

"We know that this next generation of veterans is going to require additional support, additional resources and this is a good first step, and so we're very excited about these improvements. Just going to make the place a little bit better and spruce it up some more," said Jason Allen of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

Nearly half of the money will go toward renovating the doorways to make them more accessible for veterans.
