NEGAUNEE -- Some Negaunee preschoolers got a hands on music lesson Monday.  A class from the Negaunee Co-op Preschool watched sixth grade orchestra students practice their craft.  The preschoolers even led the band and played some of the instruments. The teachers say it reminds the older students of the importance of their music.

"They kind of get to relive their first experiences with their instruments, too. What it was like to first hear an orchestra and what it was like to first play an instrument, and the experience of directing an orchestra is a really fun thing to do," said Orchestra teacher Catherine Moilanen.

Moilanen also said the classes are always open, and they encourage younger students to come and see what music is all about.  The hope is that the students will become interested and pursue music as they continue their education.
