The program's purpose is to spark children's interest in the sport of running

IRON MT. -- Kids in Iron Mountain are getting a move on for the Love To Run Cellcom Green Bay mini marathon.

The program's purpose is to spark children's interest in the sport of running. The students participate in a six-week course that covers running basics and simple nutrition. The program was designed to engage children in positive free time activities.

"Gets them use to outside activities, encourages them to develop a love for running, something that can be a lifelong habit. We're doing it together so we can say we've completed it," said Melissa Wentarmin, a parent.

The students train for the marathon twice a week, running at least half a mile up to three miles. Melissa says she and her coworkers are proud of their students for taking an interest in their health and fitness.
