IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Midtown Mall in Iron Mountain had its first Veteran Appreciation Day in honor of those who served our country.  The event was an outreach to help area veterans.

The appreciation day is a door opener for veterans in need of any services.  Local agencies were there to help any veterans in need.  The agencies provide important information and outreach opportunities for veterans and family members.

"They're opening up doors to be able to provide a space so agencies can come in and provide the benefits to the veterans," said Chuck Lantz, Director of the Office for Veterans Affairs.

Veterans could find information on employment, health care, pensions, and caregiver support.
