BARK RIVER-HARRIS -- Students at Bark River-Harris celebrated Young Author's Day Wednesday with author Frank Monahan, and the kids got a taste of what it feels like to be an author themselves.

Students in kindergarten through sixth grade wrote and illustrated their owns books.  They read and shared them throughout the day with different volunteers, like parents and grandparents.  They received special certificates.

First grade teacher, Leah Lesnieski's class did a digital storybook project that made reading especially exciting.

"It just makes reading and writing fun.  It carries over to every aspect of their life.  It shows them that this is something that they can do and will do for the rest of their life," said Lesnieski.

Lesnieski said her students loved writing and having their pictures and story published into a storybook to keep.
