MARQUETTE -- The winner of the 2012 Iditarod was at Northern Michigan University Monday.  Dallas Seavey became the youngest musher to win the grueling event.  Seavey comes from a family with deep roots in mushing.  His father Mitch participated in the first race and won it in 2004.  Monday night, Seavey talked about sharing his experiences with a crowd that has similar interests.

"We're excited about our victory, having won the Iditarod, and just to be able to share that with people because these are people that I know have a similar passion for sled dogs, and traveling by dog team, it's just common ground. I mean everybody loves a dog and everybody loves that athleticism there," said Dallas Seavey, Iditarod champion.

This was Seavey's sixth Iditarod race. He says the hardest part of the race is the sleep deprivation.  Seavey attended NMU in 2005 when he was also a wrestler for the United States Olympic Education Center.
