Cars lined up and people dropped off all sorts of hazardous waste like paint cans, anti-freeze

MARQUETTE -- Officials at the Marquette County Solid Waste Authority helped make the environment a little greener Saturday.

They held their monthly hazardous waste collection at the Service Center in Marquette. Cars lined up and people dropped off all sorts of hazardous waste like paint cans and anti-freeze. Officials say the community always comes through.

"We get a lot of motor oil, and that's a great thing because a little bit of motor oil contaminates a lot of water," said Hazardous Waste Technician Josh Wales. "We're trying to get as many batteries as well and mercury, everything like that, is extremely hazardous for the environment, and we want to collect as much as possible."
