IRON MOUNTAIN -- A standoff situation in Iron Mountain ended peacefully Wednesday morning.

According to the Iron Mountain Police Department it started Tuesday evening when a man contacted them.  He said that another man in the Park Ridge mobile home trailer park had pointed a rifle at him.

Police responded to the park where the suspect came to the door of his home, without a weapon in hand, and then re-entered the building.  The suspect would not respond to the repeated attempts by officers to talk with him.

Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

At 6:45 Wednesday morning police were finally able to make contact with the man, who was taken into custody without incident.

The incident has been handed over to the Dickinson County Prosecutor's Office for further review.
