MARQUETTE -- Budget cuts are coming to the Marquette Area Public Schools and more are being looked at.

At Monday night's Marquette Area Public School Board meeting, the district found that they have a budget shortfall of almost $2.5 million.  Balancing the budget means they will reduce educational staffing, including teachers and other professional staff, by 8.8 positions. In addition, three non-instructional staff will be let go.

After those cuts, they still have $309,000 that needs to be trimmed.

While no decision has been made on how to do that, the board was presented with a list of possible cuts that could be made and how those cuts would impact the district.
