MARQUETTE -- Tony Retaskie of Marquette has officially kicked off his campaign for state representative in the 109th District.  Retaskie is running as a Democrat.  He's been the executive director for the Upper Peninsula Construction Council since 2002 and was also elected to the Marquette Area Public School board that same year.  Retaskie said he'll focus on education and job creation in the Upper Peninsula.

"I want to represent the people of the 109th District, the people that live in this district, and they'll have a strong voice in Lansing when I'm there. I think that when they have ideas, sometimes they're not heard in Lansing, and that's what I want to be able to do is bring their ideas, their concerns to Lansing with me, along with a few of my own," said candidate Tony Retaskie.

Retaskie will face Marquette Mayor John Kivela in the Democratic primary.
