MARQUETTE -- The YMCA of Marquette will be 1 of 10 facilities in the country to provide a diabetes prevention program.  The program started with a grant from the Center for Disease Control and will begin in June.  The goal of the program is to help those who are at risk of developing type two diabetes and improve their overall health and awareness.  The YMCA of Marquette was chosen in part due to their high level of community involvement.

"Community-based programs we know are successful--we know this program is successful--and we're the first YMCA in Michigan to offer the program to Marquette County. So very, very blessed, and we're excited to increase the quality of life of our Upper Michigan residents," said Jenna Zdunek, Health and Wellness Director for the YMCA of Marquette County.

The YMCA will be looking for life coaches who will then be trained by CDC staff to provide this program to the U.P. For more information about the YMCA and the new program, click here.
