MARQUETTE -- Northern Michigan University will be well represented at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.  Four NMU graduates will be competing in the men's Greco Roman wrestling competition, and six of the wrestlers who make up the team are former United States Olympic Education Center wrestlers.  The U.S. wrestling Olympic team trials were held this past weekend in Iowa City, and the Wildcat team performed better than was expected.

"I couldn't have been more proud of this group; they left it on the mat. They beat guys that they shouldn't have beat on paper. It was great! The guys wrestled tough, they left it on the mat. We had a lot of fight in us," said Head Coach Rob Hermann.

USOEC representatives say that NMU is different from other Olympic training facilities because the athletes here are also students.  The wrestlers will continue to train during the summer months and will focus their attention on the upcoming University Nationals Competition, with the hopes of making the Jr. World Team.
