ISHPEMING -- First responders from across Marquette county were getting some useful training Monday night at the Elks Club in Ishpeming.  Risk control consultants organized a seminar that focused on the techniques for safer driving of emergency vehicles.  The seminar also covers intersection awareness, accident avoidance, and liability.  Organizers say this seminar can help first responders stay safe.

"I have heard back from several firefighters across the state saying that they appreciated the opportunity for the training and that it refreshed them on some of the techniques they learned back at the firefighters academy," said Risk Control Consultant Allen Smolen.

The seminar is put on by 2 The Rescue with presenters from the Grand Rapids area.  The seminar will continue Tuesday in Ishpeming and in Escanaba.  Admission is free.
