REPUBLIC -- To celebrate Earth Day, the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Republic is hosting a carnival at Republic-Michigamme school on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m..

St. Vincent de Paul will also put on a fashion show with gently used clothing along with 12 vendors that will be promoting earth-friendly products.

"A type of recyclable, reusable goods, such as rag rugs, soaps made from goat milk, little scrubbies. We are going to be having the wool sweaters that are made into purses and hats," said Liz Hangas, one of the event organizers.

The money raised will go to repairing the roof of the St. Vincent de Paul building and the Republic-Michigamme Schools.
