ESCANABA -- The annual Home and Garden Show and Pancake Days kicked off Friday in Escanaba. Over 60 vendors filled the Ruth Butler Building and people also showed up to get a taste of the Kiwanis' pancakes. The event is a chance for homeowners to get ideas for the spring and summer seasons in the Upper Peninsula. The event raises money that the Kiwanis Club uses all year long.
"Whenever we can support some community activity that's primarily for the young people of the community we're always eager to try and do that, and it's always the question of do you have the resources and if people eat a lot of pancakes we'll have the resources," said Warren Isaacson of the Kiwanis Club.
Organizers expect around five-thousand people to attend the show and Pancake Days. The Home and Garden Show runs through the weekend wrapping up on Sunday.
