CORNELL -- It's called "Breakfast on the Farm," and coming this summer, the general public will get an opportunity to meet and greet a farmer at his potato and dairy farm.  The event is sponsored by Michigan State University Extension.

"Breakfast on the Farm" includes a free breakfast and tour at Vandrese Farms in Cornell.  Warren Schauer, Michigan State Business Management Educator, said there are still many people who haven't yet visited a farm, even though they may live in a farming community.

"...so many people never grew up on a farm or don't even have very many relatives that are farmers anymore.  They don't know where their food comes from.  So this is just a way to show them where safe and wholesome food comes from," said Schauer.

The event takes place Saturday, July 28.  To find out how to get a free ticket to the event, click here.
