Delta County airport usually has an average 1,000 travelers per month, and that number jumps to 1,300 during Spring break

ESCANABA -- With the cooler weather returning to the area, many people are heading out of the U.P. for Spring break. Airports officials said there's always an increase in passenger numbers during Spring break.

Delta County airport usually has an average 1,000 travelers per month, and that number jumps to 1,300 during Spring break. Officials urge passengers to arrive early during busy travel periods. They also encourage customers to purchase tickets in advance.

Prices are determined by flight availability.

"I'm going on a cruise around the Caribbean. We're going there for my brothers vacation because it's Spring break," Luke Schwemin, a passenger, said.

More travelers means fewer seats which could wind up costing you more money if you wait until the last minute to book your flight.
