One sent to hospital in accidental shooting

The 38-year-old was brought in to the emergency room at Marquette General Hospital around shortly after 1 a.m. with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

MARQUETTE -- The Michigan State Police are hoping to speak with a Marquette man that was sent to the hospital after an accidental shooting that took place early Saturday morning.

The 38-year-old was brought into the emergency room at Marquette General Hospital shortly after 1 a.m. with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. State troopers said the shooting occurred at a camp on Brown Deer Road in Powell Township.

The man was still in the hospital as of Monday morning.  The police don't suspect foul play at this time.

Names are being withheld pending investigation.
