GWINN -- Mushers gathered for the Jack Pine 30 in Gwinn Saturday morning.

The first musher this year was Gwinn resident Jackie Winkowski. She was one of 15 mushers competing. The race started at Larry's Family Foods like usual but had an altered course like the UP 200 and Midnight Run. This year's course was about 27 miles long. The finish line was near CR 480.

Families and friends came to spectate and cheer on the mushers.

"Some of the other races are more really race oriented, and this one is more fun oriented; it's really fan-friendly," said Mark Smith, an official timer.

The 2012 Jack Pine 30 winner is Allena Baum from Kennan, Wisc. She had a time of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 16 seconds.
