MARQUETTE -- The Great Lakes Center for Youth Development held a workshop Tuesday to train nonprofit organizations on how to raise money for their cause.

Several nonprofit representatives from Lake Superior Hospice, Delta Green, and Medical Care Access Coalition attended a fundraising workshop at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

The purpose was to offer tips and advice on how to raise money effectively and efficiently for nonprofits.

Amy Quinn, with the Great Lakes Center for Youth Development, says participants created a simple plan of action that identified potential support and resources they can use.

"The representatives being here, being able to set time aside to think about how are they going to accomplish their revenue and work on receiving the revenue they need to be sustainable, that it will have a long lasting impact in our communities," said Quinn.

The center will be holding more workshops in the U.P. later in the future.
