MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Rotary Club is asking for new hats, mittens, and gloves to be dropped off at the 100.3 The Point offices on Washington Street.

These donations are being requested for the Warmth on the Ice event.

Rosemary Smith of the Rotary Club says she is excited to see the event still going on this year at a different venue.

"Warmth on the Ice was an event that was actually going to go away until Marquette West Rotary Club adopted it this year," said Smith.  "And it will be held Wednesday night between the first and second periods of the Marquette Electricians and Marquette Redmen hockey game at Lakeview Arena, 8 p.m."

The Rotary Club felt that this was a natural addition to the money they currently raise for the Seafood Club and other local charities.

Smith also says that you can bring the winter gear with you to the game; all hats and gloves collected from the game go to school children in the area.
