One confirmed dead
SANDS TOWNSHIP -- According to the Marquette County Sheriff's Department a Chevy Malibu lost control travelling in the northbound lane of M-553 and collided with a waste management vehicle travelling in the southbound lane.
Two people were in the Malibu, and one has been confirmed deceased.
The driver of the waste management vehicle suffered no injuries.
The incident is still under investigation. We will have more information as it becomes available.
M-553 has been reopened to traffic.

Police and Emergency personnel are on the scene of a two vehicle personal injury accident on M-553, south of Marquette Mountain at the Glasses curve area.
The call came out at approximately 10:09 Thursday morning that a waste management truck is on top of a passenger car.
TV6's Nikki Davidson reports that the Marquette County Sheriff, Marquette City Police, Sands and Marquette Township Fire, along with Marquette County 131, are at the scene.
No other information is available at this time. They say M-553 is expected to be closed until the afternoon.
