HANCOCK -- The employees at Portage Health Hospital have reached Platinum Status.

The American Heart Association has deemed this workplace a Fit Friendly Company.

The wellness program gives employees up-to-date information on their health, health screenings, and information on different ways to improve their overall health.

“I think this is just really a special recognition, not only for us who have created the program, but for all of our employees. It is recognition for all of our employees and how hard they worked to be role models to the rest of our community and show them how to live a healthy lifestyle,” said Joni Erkkila, Portage Health Wellness Coordinator.

Fewer than 350 companies have earned this title, and Portage Health will keep this title until July.

The program allows employees to go online and track their sleeping patterns and log different physical activities they are participating in. Employees are also given incentives to keep them motivated and involved in the program.
