MARQUETTE -- Calvin Martz, 64, was sentenced in Marquette on Friday after being found guilty of unlawful imprisonment, criminal sexual conduct, and assaulting police officers.

Martz has received the recommended sentencing guidelines of 15 to 40 years in prison.  The maximum penalty he could have received is life in prison.

The Michigamme man was arrested during an incident in May, during which he pepper sprayed police officers who were attempting a well being check on the victim of the sexual assault and unlawful imprisonment.

A representative read a victim impact statement in court on Friday.

Karen Kirby was found guilty on Thursday of unlawful imprisonment relating to the same incident.  Her sentencing has been set for January 20.
