MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- Volunteers will be in place to help wrap thousands of presents at Marquette's Westwood Mall again this holiday season. The booth will be manned by various agencies, such as Habitat for Humanity, high school organizations and Northern Michigan University groups.

Half of the proceeds will go to the organization coordinating the volunteer efforts. The other half of those funds will then support the annual community service awards in April.

Organizers say it's a way to accept a helping hand while also doing the community a service.

"There are other things to be doing during the Christmas season; having your gifts wrapped by this organization or these fine folks is a good way to spread good cheer," said Jane Iery, volunteer coordinator for Habitat for Humanity.

Organizers plan to have the booth staffed with volunteers all hours the Westwood Mall is open.
