MARQUETTE -- Northern Michigan University President Les Wong spoke to students and faculty about progress the university has made on 8eightpoints of improvement.

Wong presented an update on eight key points that he felt the university needed to address last fall.

Highlights included discussions on centralizing the university's health care services and the president's "4 in 4" program which seeks to add 400 students in the next four years.

Wong says this forum is a welcomed break from the usual university concerns.

"This is a fun presentation for me because the budget is not the center of the discussion this time; it's really updating everyone on a really robust agenda that a lot of folks have been working on this past year," said President Wong.

President Wong also stated areas that need improvement for NMU, such as student retention and helping students in a tough economy.
