It's a web-based application made to optimize a hunter's experience that maps out public hunting land

MARQUETTE -- The Department of Natural Resources reminds hunters they may be able to save time setting up their next hunting spot by checking out Mi-Hunt.

It's a web-based application made to optimize a hunter's experience that maps out public hunting land. This year, the DNR received a grant from the National Shooting Sports Foundation to make the application easier to use. Users can view things like the topography of huntable land, vegetation cover types, and even the recreational facilities available in the area.

"We have thousands of acres of land that's open to public hunting, so that can be a little overwhelming for someone who is trying to scout and figure out where they want to go hunting, so using Mi-Hunt helps them to narrow down the spots they're interested in," said DNR spokeswoman Debbie Munson Badini.

The DNR said this application isn't just for hunters but can be used by those looking for camping locations, trails, or boat launches. For more information, visit the Mi-Hunt website.
