DICKINSON COUNTY -- The case against a Kingsford man for allegedly assaulting police officers with a knife is in progress.

A preliminary hearing for 44-year-old David Anthony Levack was held on Friday in Dickinson County.  He is charged with a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon, two felony counts of felonious assault, and as a habitual offender.

On September 27, Levack was to be on trial in Iron County for allegedly stealing property.  The victim and witness, Joyce Johnson of Crystal Falls, was found dead the same day.  Authorities ruled her death a homicide.

Authorities have charged Levack in the alleged homicide of Johnson, according to the Iron County Sheriff's Department.

Levack will next be in Dickinson County Circuit Court on November 7.
