HUMBOLDT TOWNSHIP -- Michigan Department of Natural Resources investigators are looking for information on a possible moose poaching in Marquette County between Wednesday and Thursday.

A Humboldt Township resident contacted the DNR about a severed moose head located on a rock near the corner of County Road CF and East Road near Helen Lake.  The head was discovered with a sign leaning against it.   The sign read "Wolf's won't get this one!!"

Investigators said that the antlers had been taken off the animal, and the blood had still not coagulated, meaning the kill was within a few hours of discovery.

Officers have collected fingerprints from the cardboard sign and other evidence in the area.

If you have any information on this incident please contact the DNR's Marquette Operations Service Center between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at (906) 228-6561.  You can also call the Report All Poaching line 24 hours a day at (800) 292-7800.
