Somero's family farm in Dollar Bay offers a variety of activities
DOLLAR BAY -- Don't let the cry discourage you. There's something for everyone at this pumpkin patch. And with October bringing its fall weather along, they say it’s the perfect way to spend the day.
"Big or small, they have loads of fun out here; it’s a safe environment, families can feel free to just roam around, let the kids run, let them play, let them choose their pumpkin," said Kim Somero, farm owner.
At Somero's family farm in Dollar Bay, there's no need to fight over a pumpkin.
"We offer a large variety of pumpkins, and we do offer the pie pumpkins if you like to make your own pie. We do have squash and the hay bales and the corn stocks for decorating," Somero said.
If you're really daring, 'tis the season to be spooky. Try finding your way in the corn maze when the sun goes down.
"It was fun; it was really cool,” said visitor Robin Zygmont.
“Yeah, everyone has to try the corn maze,” said Chris Zygmont. “We hit a couple of dead ends, but we eventually found our way out."
And if you don’t get lost in the maze and you survive the scavenger hunt, there are prizes for you at the other end.
If corn mazes aren't your thing, there is plenty more to explore.
"The pumpkin toss was pretty cool. Everyone should come out and give it a shot," Chris Zygmont said.
Don’t let the endless count of pumpkins fool you; the family knows exactly how many they leave and that someone's been lurking at night.
"It's been a big problem this year: theft,” Somero said. “People are coming in after it’s closed. We have cameras, we just haven’t caught them on camera yet."
So if you plan on visiting, Somero's farm is open from morning to dusk, Monday through Friday, and afternoon to dusk on the weekends.
