MARQUETTE -- The verdict is in and Calvin Martz was found guilty on all five counts and will be sentenced on December 2.

The Michigamme Township man was convicted of first degree criminal sexual conduct, assaulting police officers and unlawful imprisonment.

Martz, who represented himself in the trial, has asked for a court appointed attorney for his sentencing.

One Michigamme neighbor we spoke with thinks the bizarre case is a sign of a more dangerous Upper Peninsula.

"It surprised me that it was so close, but things are changing and it's coming to the U.P.--the meth labs and everything else," said Michigamme resident Carla Skytta.  "It's getting close."

There is the possibility of an appeal for Martz.

His live-in companion in Michigamme Township was Karen Kirby.  Her trial on unlawful imprisonment of another person is scheduled to start on December 13.
