For the entire month of August, there has been less than one inche of rainfall officially recorded.  Our area is nearly five inches below normal rainfall for the year.

We did receive 0.17" of rainfall from Friday's thundershowers, but that's literally only a few drops in the proverbial bucket.

The severe thunderstorm that passed through Ontonagon County dropped a tornado there.  This tornado has now been confirmed by the National Weather Service to have been a EF1 tornado.  It caused a near eight-mile path of damage to mainly trees and mobile homes, killing one person in Wisconsin.

We will hope to get more rainfall from future low-pressure systems over the next few months.  But as we move into the fall season, the thunderstorms are capable of producing more frequent severe weather due to the clashing of cold and warm air masses.
